Core Knowledge
The Arts are not a peripheral part, but an essential part of the curriculum. As children progress in their knowledge and competencies, they can begin to learn more about the methods and terminology of the different arts, and become familiar with an ever wider range of great artists. Through attaining a basic knowledge of the arts, children are not only better prepared to understand and appreciate works of art, but also to communicate their ideas, feelings, and judgements to others. A good understanding of the arts grows out of at least three modes of knowledge---creative, historical, and analytical. Early study of the arts should embrace all three modes with special emphasis on creativity and active participation. |

Our Hope for Students
We at St. Aloysius School believe that it is important for children to explore what they learn in the classroom in a creative way. Therefore we try to create art projects based on the Core Knowledge Curriculum. Our hope is that all students will acquire an ability to see the beauty the world has to offer and will gain appreciation for the art that is all around them. |
