FIRST RECONCILIATION &
FIRST EUCHARIST
At St. Aloysius, we are blessed to walk with families as children prepare to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. These sacraments are important milestones in a child’s faith journey and provide beautiful opportunities to experience God’s love and grace in a deeper way.
First Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (also called Confession or Penance) is a time for children to encounter God’s mercy and forgiveness. Through this sacrament, they learn the importance of examining their hearts, saying “I’m sorry,” and receiving the healing grace of God. Preparing for Reconciliation helps children understand the difference between right and wrong, the value of making good choices, and the joy of a restored relationship with God.
First Eucharist
The Sacrament of the Eucharist is the heart of our Catholic faith. In the Eucharist, we celebrate the real presence of Jesus Christ, who nourishes us and strengthens us to live as His disciples. Receiving Holy Communion for the first time is a special moment when children are welcomed more fully into the life of the Church. Preparation for this sacrament helps them appreciate the Mass, develop a deeper love for Jesus, and understand how the Eucharist unites us as the Body of Christ.
We recognize that parents are the first and primary teachers of the faith. Our role is to support you in preparing your child to receive these sacraments with understanding, reverence, and joy. If you have questions about First Reconciliation or First Eucharist preparation, please contact Leslie Doyle, Director of Children Formation, at ldoyle@aloysius.org.
