St. Aloysius
CAMPUS MASTER PLAN
INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1955, St. Aloysius is one the largest church congregations in the Baton Rouge
diocese and home to one of the finest Catholic schools educating over 1,150 children
annually with high-quality instruction within a family atmosphere and a Childcare Center
supporting almost 200 families. St. Aloysius is currently embarking on the next phase of
master planning for the church and school campus. Steady investments have been made to
expand and improve facilities, including renovating classroom buildings in 2002 and 2005,
adding the auxiliary gym in 2006, building the new childcare center in 2015 and the new
pastoral services center in 2016. But there is a continued need for additional upgrades,
expansions and improvements to serve the future needs of the church and school.
A survey was conducted to better understand the needs of the St. Aloysius community
and seek input on priorities for near-term investment in our church and school campus. The survey was fielded from Thursday, March 13, 2025 to Monday, April 28, 2025.
In total 1,810 responses were received. Respondents were asked to identify their
affiliation(s) with St. Aloysius. The majority indicated that they are church parishioners
(1,577 responses, 87.1%), followed by those with a child who currently attends a St.
Aloysius school or childcare center (790 responses, 43.6%) and those with a
child/grandchild that previously attended a St. Aloysius school or childcare center (443
responses, 24.5%). The majority of responses also were received from those who have
been affiliated with St. Aloysius for more than eleven years (1,177 respondents, 65.0%).
Additionally, many responses were received from those aged 31 – 50 years (913
respondents, 50.4%) or 51 years and older (701 respondents. 38.7%).
Survey participants were asked a series of open-ended questions about why they continue
to choose St. Aloysius, what they love most about the organization, its unique attributes,
and what they would change about the campuses. Common themes emerged across
responses to all questions. Respondents consistently provided exceptionally positive
feedback regarding the strong, faith-filled community established at St. Aloysius, its
welcoming atmosphere, and its rich history and legacy. The built assets of the church and
school campuses most frequently mentioned included campus buildings needing renovation, particularly the gym and Gonzaga Hall, along with desired additions such as an adoration chapel and columbarium.

Guiding Principles
Missionary Spirit
We embrace our call to be an outward-facing community, creating liturgical experiences and spaces that are welcoming, accessible, and that celebrate the richness of our Catholic faith.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19
Honor our Legacy
Honor our Legacy
We stand on the shoulders of those who sacrificed before us, committed to preserving our parish legacy while creating spaces that inspire faith for generations to come.
Sanctuary of Belonging
We strive to be a sanctuary of Christ's love; safe in body, mind, and spirit, where people of every age, from our youngest learners to out lifelong disciples, gather to worship, to grow, and to find belonging.
